My Experience and History
Upon graduating from Pittsburgh Technical Institute in 1991, I was introduced to plastic injection molds and toolmaking and quickly developed a strong interest in the industry. I began my career as an apprentice toolmaker and rapidly advanced my skills, eventually becoming a lead toolmaker. After eight years of building connector molds, I pursued an opportunity to work independently and founded DSE Precision Designs.
Leveraging my hands-on experience, DSE Precision Designs quickly earned a reputation as a trusted and reliable source for mold design, serving tool shops and molders across the country. Throughout the 1990s, our primary focus included connectors, automotive lighting, wire harness over molds, as well as caps and closures.
In 2000, DSE Precision Designs was integrated into an existing tool shop, Skylon Mold. Shortly thereafter, I acquired the company from its previous owner. During the early 2000s, we experienced significant growth, expanding to a team of more than 20 toolmakers, apprentices, machinists, engineers, and programming staff. Our capabilities broadened to include wire harness over molds, automotive and lighting components, caps and closures, and medical devices. In 2022, after 22 successful years, Skylon Mold was sold to one of our customers.
Following the sale of Skylon-recognizing a growing shortage of skilled professionals across the industry—including tool and mold makers, grinders, EDM operators, programmers, and designers—I made the decisin to relaunch DSE Designs and I am focused on filling the critical role of mold design wherever it is needed. I invite you to review our capabilities to learn how I can support your tooling design and mold project management needs.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
Sincerely,
